Poetry Night on November 19

Bring your own poems to read, or bring a favorite or classic poem. Or simply come and enjoy a poetic evening. It’s casual. Sometimes we get two people to read the same poem. United Way annual campaign is underway!

Applications for W.E. Pro$per internship program due Sept. 8

Work Ethics Pro$per is a business mentorship and internship program at Westside Community Center that introduces high school students to the world of business with the opportunity to learn about business culture, ethics, etiquette, and expectations, and then gain on-the-job experience. One Saturday morning each month at WCC, students in 9th-12th grades participate in W.E. ConocoPhillips makes donation to Westside Community Center

ConocoPhillips recently showed its support of the Westside Community Center by making a $25,000 donation to the non-profit organization. The Westside Community Center is a partner agency of the Bartlesville Regional United Way. The donation will go toward programs and operating expenses for the Westside Community Center. The organization has been part of the Bartlesville landscape for more than 70 years and has a stated mission to “educate and empower the underserved in our community.” Among the more prominent programs offered by the Westside Community Center are two that benefit area students – Community Advanced Study Hall and Work-Ethics-Prosper, which […]

Peaceful People for 4th & 5th graders

Peaceful People is an initiative to provide the time, space and context for empowering youth with the ability to develop calm and peace in themselves and promote those attributes to their peers. This program is for 4th and 5th grade students in select elementary schools in Bartlesville. In the past, this program was known as “Peaceful Warriors” but it has now been revamped to include girls. Phillips 66 to fund a new STEM-focused summer program at Westside Community Center

Westside Community Center will offer a special STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) summer program in 2023, thanks to a $15,000 grant from Phillips 66 awarded to WCC this past week. Students will get hands-on, immersive full days of learning about STEM topics such as Animal and Plant Life Cycles, Weather Patterns, Properties of Matter, Space Science, Chemistry, and more.
