Message from Chenin Patton, WCC Executive Director

Happy Valentine’s Day!  Today marks one year since I accepted the Executive Director position here at Westside. I am truly grateful for this entire experience thus far. I’ve met so many amazing people out there hustling and grinding for this little community we call the Ville and its people. I’ve learned an immense amount of African American history that I never knew existed. I’ve discovered how taxing the non-profit industry really is. Wanting rainbows and unicorns for everyone only to realize money doesn’t grow on trees. Who would have thunk it… I’ve been humbled more times than I can count. I am reminded every single day to be appreciative of all that I have. But if I’m being honest, the best part is all the hugs and I love yous that I’m greeted with every day.  I’m excited to see all that the next year brings us!
