ConocoPhillips makes donation to Westside Community Center

ConocoPhillips recently showed its support of the Westside Community Center by making a $25,000 donation to the non-profit organization. The Westside Community Center is a partner agency of the Bartlesville Regional United Way. The donation will go toward programs and operating expenses for the Westside Community Center. Peaceful People for 4th & 5th graders

Peaceful People is an initiative to provide the time, space and context for empowering youth with the ability to develop calm and peace in themselves and promote those attributes to their peers. This program is for 4th and 5th grade students in select elementary schools in Bartlesville. In the past, this program was known as “Peaceful Warriors” but it has now been revamped to include girls. Phillips 66 to fund a new STEM-focused summer program at Westside Community Center

Westside Community Center will offer a special STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) summer program in 2023, thanks to a $15,000 grant from Phillips 66 awarded to WCC this past week. Students will get hands-on, immersive full days of learning about STEM topics such as Animal and Plant Life Cycles, Weather Patterns, Properties of Matter, Space Science, Chemistry, and more. Bartlesville Police Community Meeting May 17, 2022

The Bartlesville Police Department (BPD) is now hosting monthly community meetings to engage with citizens. People are encouraged to attend to learn about crime and policing in Bartlesville.The meeting at WCC will be the first meeting of these monthly events. Meet and interact with the officers, ask questions, and voice concerns in order to strengthen communication between the BPD and the community. Cherokee Nation donates to WCC

Cherokee Council Member Dora Smith-Patzkowski stopped by the West Side Community Center and presented us with a $3,000 donation from the Cherokee Nation! This will help us during the holidays as we provide after-school care and meals to as many as 35 children a day. Homie the Gnomie visits WCC!

We had the craziest day! We were minding our business reading a book about gnomes and how they help Santa. Mr. Isaiah and I kept hearing some loud noises so we went on a hunt to locate it. The kids couldn’t hear it but they helped us look. Then it happened…..They found a gnome. A real life gnome! He supplied us with paper to write letters to Santa and told us he would be back everyday to report back to the North Pole. His name is Homie and he’s our gnomie! WCC at Kiwanis Wreath Event

WCC is delighted to participate in the Kiwanis annual wreath fundraiser event. The theme this year is “Fairytale Christmas” and we created a wreath to be on display at the Hilton Garden Inn Nov. 1 -11 along with others from community organizations, and be auctioned off Finale Party on Thursday, November 11 from 5:30-7:30pm. Our Wreath Entry is #31: “Welcome to Clause’s Reindeer Farm. Where the reindeer are roaming, the snow is fresh, the trees are cut and lights hung with care.
